Harvey Bouterse is originally from South Americ and he was raised in Holland, but his interest in fashion brought him to Antwerp, where he currently lives and works. He learned about the fashion industry by working for other Belgian designers like Veronique Branqhuino, Wim Neels, Christian Wijnants and Wouter Hoste.
He now works as a free-lance designer for different brands and has launched his own label “HrVi - Harvey Bouterse”
The HrVi collections are small yet complete. Small so that each piece becomes a personal item finished to perfection and complete because ... well,...we just need things to be complete, don’t we? With jackets, tops, trousers ...and even a few brilliant leather travelling bags.
There is a strong travelling feel to HrVi, Say Life Travellers and the road they travel in search of themselves and what they come up to face with on that road.
Harvey’s collections “is” that road. Because it leaves every opportunity open to leap to another direction, or to be inspired and influenced by things and characters we encounter along our way.
Personality is important in the way we dress and how we want to have things that can become and stay our own, to take with us on our journey.
That’s why personality, searching, development and growth are the main inspiration sources of HrVi.
Says the designer: “The collection is less formal in style and intent and I hope it will create a new audience to fashion in general: an audience that puts substance over muscle, sincerity over profit and that stands strong in their respect for creative integrity. An audience that is constantly exploring and developing into a better shape of itself.”
